Kenneth Earl Rogers

I am Kenneth E. Rogers Jr.—a published writer, philanthropist, and the proud CEO and owner of a diverse business empire. My life’s journey is one of resilience, creativity, and a deep passion for entrepreneurship, shaped by the remarkable legacy of my family. From my earliest days, I was inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit of those closest to me, and today, I honor their influence through my ventures, including Black Sharks Entertainment, Mitchell & Rogers Clothing, Antartika Records, 247 Protective Services, Super Wrinkly English Bulldogs, Black Sharks Management, and All We Make Is Hits Production Company.

My story begins in Brooklyn New York, where I was born to Veronica Rogers and Kenneth Rogers. Living in Brooklyn in the Early 1980’s was an extremely fun time because this is where I was introduced to hard work. My dad was the super of a building at 555 Lenox Road. He would pick up my siblings in his station wagon where we would play games and dance to music from Michael Jackson, Prince and Lionel Richie. Growing up in a household with both of my parents was great in the beginning until I witnessed my dad become physically violent toward my mom. That’s when I knew that I would never be like him and treat women with the respect and love they deserved.

At 4 years old my mom and dad split up. My mom decided to send me to the heart of the Caribbean, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. My grandmother, Rosetta Hodge, was the matriarch of our family and a natural entrepreneur who taught me invaluable lessons about creativity and determination. In the 1980s, she ran a successful business selling “exotic fruit specials”—frozen cups filled with the vibrant tastes of sugar apples, stew tamarind, papaya, and mangoes. She was also a talented seamstress, crafting and selling beautiful dresses from her home, while dedicating herself to helping others in need through her work in the Seventh-Day Adventist community.

Living with my grandparents, Rosetta and George Hodge (Hodgie), a hardworking janitor with a love for music who often played the guitar was a great experience. During this time, I learned to drive, cultivated a love for animals with the lizards, iguanas, and the family dog in our backyard, and attended kindergarten. This chapter in St. Thomas instilled in me a deep sense of independence and curiosity that would shape my life.

The following year, I moved to Montgomery, Alabama, to live with my aunt Pertha Prentice. Immersed in the history of the Civil Rights Movement, I attended churches rich in Southern heritage and visited HBCUs like Alabama State University to watch college basketball games. These experiences deepened my understanding of resilience and the power of education and community.

In 1986, I moved to the Bronx, New York—a life-changing transition. The energy and ambition of the Bronx ignited my dreams of building something extraordinary. I was surrounded by inspiration, from the bustling city streets to the creative minds I encountered, and this environment pushed me to envision a future defined by innovation and success.

My family was instrumental in shaping my entrepreneurial drive. My uncle, Alford Pemberton (Mr. Everything), was a multifaceted entrepreneur who operated a store out of his Brooklyn apartment, selling everything from watches to clothing. He was also a photographer, socialite, and public servant whose charm and versatility left a lasting impression on me.

Equally impactful was my mother, Veronica Rogers, who never let go of her entrepreneurial spirit. Despite studying to become a medical assistant, she ventured into fashion, insurance sales, hair braiding, and more. Her tenacity and creativity taught me that with hard work and determination, there are no limits to what one can achieve.

Inspired by my family’s example, I have built a dynamic business empire that reflects my diverse interests and the lessons learned from my upbringing:

  • Black Sharks Entertainment: Revolutionizing the entertainment industry with bold, original content.
  • Mitchell & Rogers Clothing: A fashion brand inspired by my grandmother’s sewing talent, merging sophistication and modernity.
  • Antartika Records: A label dedicated to discovering and fostering exceptional talent.
  • 247 Protective Services: A security company providing world-class protection.
  • Super Wrinkly English Bulldogs: Breeding and caring for English Bulldogs with passion and professionalism.
  • Black Sharks Management: Managing artists and empowering creatives in various industries.
  • All We Make Is Hits Production Company: Delivering high-quality music and media content.

As a philanthropist, I am committed to uplifting others and creating opportunities for success. Through my businesses and writing, I aim to inspire the next generation to dream big and work hard, just as my family inspired me.

From the vibrant fruit cups of St. Thomas to the historic halls of Montgomery and the dynamic streets of the Bronx, my journey has been a tapestry woven with resilience, ambition, and a commitment to excellence. I honor the entrepreneurial legacy of my family while forging a path forward, building a future defined by creativity, innovation, and impact.

This is my story. This is my legacy.
